Resolving the New Year 2012

As this calendar year gives way to a new one, don’t ask yourself what you wish for the new year. Don’t look at the horizon and hope upon a star.

Meet your life head to head, right in this very moment as the earth swings around the sun. Make your new year’s resolution a direction for your growth. Not a far off dream to be enthused and then forgotten.

The only way to create change is by bringing it into the present.

So ask yourself: what is it about this new year that you will finally bring into your life, into this very moment? Is it confidence, love, peace, acceptance, strength, pleasure, or focus?

This is your year. If not this year, then when?

Namaste, my friends. Enjoy a very happy, a very healthy, and a very wild new year.

Knowing too much is just as disabling as knowing too little. Know enough to be aware. Then all you need to know will come through the moment itself.

Two questions: One, did you find it better meditating at night vs. in the morning?? Two, is there a term for being high off life? I don't know how better to put it but I had a single situation occur when I was completely drug or alcohol free and in those couple minutes, I was high. I literally felt this euphoric uplifting happiness high feeling that one gets from things like MDMA happening. Is this reaching a higher level of something? Anything to help clarify would be great. Thanks! :)

I don’t have anything conclusive about morning vs. night just yet. I’m still trying it out and haven’t been doing it long enough to see actual results or changes. I’ll be sure to share what I find out, though!

As for the high, it isn’t uncommon. But people get so focused on being high. Oh it’s a drug high, or oh it’s a natural high. People are always trying to go up high and avoid low. By nature being high creates a low. Again, this isn’t uncommon. In fact, it’s a stepping stone.

The euphoria you feel is a stepping stone to peace. You learn from this euphoria how everything is benign, everything is love, and empty of true form other than your being. But euphoria doesn’t last. It’s  phase. People make the mistake of trying to chase the euphoria. Don’t. You want peace not bliss, remember that.

Enjoy the euphoria and learn to see the world through that lens. When it goes, let go. Euphoria will come and go as it pleases on the spiritual path but don’t think of it as levels being attained because that would be an illusion.

Just keep meditating and keep doing your thing. If good feelings come then wonderful. If bad feelings come then let them move through you like water. The dance of feeling and emotion will never become anything more than what it is. In meditation, you discover the peace of Being, which evades description. All we can do is point at it.

Namaste.

Music Gatha

A song is not made by its tones alone

but how each tone shifts into a new form.

I listen to this music

And I witness the birth and death of sound

As it creates Song.

In life, we must die each moment

so that together our moments will sing their own

Song.

I have seen a lot of stuff on Tumblr about a coming ascension in 2012. As if their existence is moving to a higher plane. I don't quite understand it/believe it. What do you know about it and what are your thoughts?

Eh, the Ascension doesn’t happen in the future. It is always now.

Perhaps there will be a change in the tides of the Illusion. Maybe it will cataclysmic and terrible. Or it could be inspiring and uplifting. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that the future will be any different than living right now, this moment.

I can’t tell you about the future or the past with confidence, so 2012 is not on my radar. When it is in the present, when it is arriving, then maybe I’ll have some impressions. Right now I don’t feel anything from it.

Namaste!

Zen Bedtime Gatha

When I remember sleep, I remember death.

When I remember death, the world stops scurrying.

As I lay down to rest,

Not all of the world’s stories matter to a flower, to a stone.

When I put down the world, I pick up the Tao.

When I remember death, I remember sleep.

Goodnight.

Hey didn't you say it was good to think of shiva if you were smoking, what does that do for the experience?

It brings awareness into what you are doing. This doesn’t mean that whenever you want to commune with Shiva you must smoke. It means that you may commune with Shiva whenever you are smoking.

For example, as you prepare a bowl, don’t be thinking about this or that. Arrange things carefully, because it is your sacrifice to the divine. All things that pass through fire are sacrifices to the divine, to eternity. They become ash, changeless. Have appreciation for the process.

When you smoke, you call ‘Bom Shankar!’ to get Shiva’s attention, to tell him you are smoking in his honor. When you exhale, you say ‘Bholenath’, which means Simple Lord. It is the name for Shiva when he is stoned. In other words, you are referring to yourself as a stoned Shiva while at the same time calling to Shiva himself.

Then you just be.

Again, I do not stress this as the way of communing with Shiva. It is just a way, an old way. True communion is possible at any moment, especially while sober.

Namaste, brother. :)
