Joyful Abandon

A Young Bodhisattva Mixing Life's Swill into Tantric Cocktails of Blissful Perfection

nevernear asked: Hello Lazy Yogi, thank you for running this blog. I want to ask you: do you have a job? How does one keep mindfullness in an everyday work routine? I sometimes think that living a life of awareness and mindfullness would be much more possible if I didn't have to spend so much time at work.

I have a part time job right now, having recently graduated college. Working on getting a full time gig.

Mindfulness is possibly every moment because mindfulness is only possible every moment. It doesn’t matter what the moment contains. Your inability to find mindfulness of work is completely dependent on your opinions and feelings about being at work.

If you drop your feelings about and just feel and be totally present with whatever you are doing, then you are in mindfulness. Whether that may be making copies, typing at the computer, or strolling through nature.

Perhaps we have more obligations that we may like. Feel free to live your life accumulating wealth or finding ways of minimizing your obligation to the material world, or any world. But don’t wait until any of that happens before allowing yourself to relax and be happy.

Spirituality, mindfulness, isn’t about what you do. It’s about remaining present for whatever it is that you are doing, whatever it is that you are being.

Namaste.
