transcending-nihilism asked: I realize I'm over thinking this, but can traveling and becoming aware co-exist in the same person? I want to focus on becoming more aware through-out my life, but I want to travel, and experience and have an incredibly full life. I realize saying "I want" goes against awareness, but can I do both?

‘I want’ doesn’t go against awareness. It is a passing phenomenon that occurs within the context of awareness, like a cloud in the sky.

If you feel the urge to travel and there is nothing stopping you, go for it! All places are one and traveling is a good way to discover that for yourself. Many yogis and sadhus and monks were wanderers and travelers and pilgrims.

It is not what you are doing and where you are that is important; it is how present and aware you are in this very moment, whatever it may be.

Check out the book Autobiography of a Sadhu by Rampuri. It is the story of a 20-year-old kid from California moving to India to become a sadhu. It’s a wild adventure.

Also Ram Dass’ book Be Here Now is a magnificent read for someone on the road who wants to find ways of connecting with the Spirit.

Sometimes the easiest way to get ‘rid’ of a desire is simply to fulfill it. Othertimes we must burn it. But either way the result is the same: the desire gets dropped.

Namaste, sister. Safe and blessed travels :)
