lavablizzaga asked: [Your blog is a joy. So grateful for the words of wisdom.] Okay so, I can't even get past sun salutations and am barely able to sit for meditation. I'm aware of the inherent greatness of yoga/meditation & its potential to launch us into utopia, yet I still find myself unable to open to it. I just need to (figuratively) explode and be disfigured beyond recognition before I can proceed. I've felt myself reacting irrationally to situations that wouldn't usually upset me and it's hindering progress.

Thank you for your kind words :)

The idea of needing to do anything before being able to do yoga or meditation is a trick. There is no inherent greatness of yoga and meditation. The only greatness it has it what you bring to it.

Your ego wants to build it up to make it something that is difficult to approach.

When you start reacting, don’t think. Become still and just watch. Don’t act on your reactions and don’t use them as a lens through which to see the world. Just feel them and watch them until they dissipate.

Then go to yoga. Then decide to sit down and do ten minutes of meditation or whatever.

There’s nothing more to it than just showing up. The rest comes on its own if you give it the opportunity to do so.

Take heart! And get on that. :P
