coco-colo asked: What's the best way to prevent oneself from becoming quickly irritated? I consider myself a mostly calm person, but I seem to have this ever-present level of low irritability. It rarely escalates, but I'm always just a little ticked off.

Slowing down and being patient creates an inhospitable environment for irritation. Irritation thrives on reactivity and a mild level of unconsciousness.

When you can become present and relaxed, detaching from your reactions to external stimuli, then your capacity for irritation will severely diminish.

You may discover you can moderate that irritability by slowing down the breath. If the irritability is chronic, it is most likely a kind of tension that you are carrying in yourself without realizing it. To be irritable means to be uptight.

Examine yourself and be mindful of how you have been relating to your body/mind. Find out where you are clenching and make peace with it through acceptance/forgiveness/relaxation.

Stop focusing on other things and become aware of your Presence here and now. Then there isn’t room for anything to enter your awareness to nag you.

Hope this helped :)
