7 Days of Compassion

As we enter the third and final week of the spirituality challenge, take a moment to look back on these past two. We began with zen techniques and daily meditation, moved on through awakening the heart and returning to our naturalness, and now what is left?

By now we have found a certain degree of peace and stillness. But we do not live as isolated bubbles. We are part of a vast network, a vast world. This week we will be focusing on compassion and evolving ourselves through helping others. What good is peace if it cannot be shared?

In my opinion, the tibetan buddhist schools are unparalleled in their understanding and practice of compassion. Therefore that will be the main focus for this week.

The weekly curriculum is as follows:

1) Wake up in the morning with a spontaneous prayer of either gratitude or love.

2) Meditate for 20 minutes every day.

3) Choose a mantra and repeat it mentally as often as possible.

4) Offer someone forgiveness or help. That’s right, every day. :)

Don’t forget to track the tag #lazyyogispiritualitychallenge to be kept up to date on the daily challenges for the final week. Feel free to tag posts with that as well for anything you wish me to read or comment on.
