Your emotions aren’t buried inside you. You’re buried inside you. When you become disconnected from the now by getting too into your head, you will begin to feel alienated. Both from others and life itself.
Anxiety makes us want to run away and hide from the moment. It is an understandable reaction. But if you can stay present with your anxiety and remain sincere in this moment, you will discover a curious spaciousness.
Connecting with other people is no more complicated than simply Being with them here and now. People connect when they share because through sharing we all have each other. Sharing a moment, an experience, a laugh, a cry, anything. It diminishes the illusion of separation.
Emotions are natural reactions to dwelling in the moment. When they arise, there is nothing wrong with them. But don’t let their temporary experiences change the way you feel about yourself or the world.
Right now you are a little repressed and uptight inside, and I can relate. The trick is to soften yourself through meditation and mindfulness or other similar techniques. If you can relax, even when feeling a little anxious, it will make a world of difference.
