shebalee-deactivated20121112 asked: Why am I so scared, or intimidated, to even try meditating? I have a strong desire to, and I read about it some, but when it comes down to me actually meditating, I won't.

It is a habit for us to try to resist change. The ego likes to keep you in a constant state of fear in one form or another, through insecurity or anxiety. To meditate is come to a place of ease and peace. This looks like death from the ego’s perspective. It wants to keep its cyclical habits and imaginings. So how does it keep you from meditating? By using fear.

All it takes is to sit down. Breathe. Focus your attention on being exactly where you are, wide awake. Become still and relaxed. If thoughts and feelings come, observe and experience them. But don’t judge, analyze, or think about them. Just watch. Be the space through which everything comes and goes.

At first your thoughts and emotions may be overwhelming. Do all you can to remain present as the watcher without getting caught up in your trains of thought. After time, your thoughts will begin to settle without any effort on your behalf. The more you watch, the less you actively think. You enter a place of silent intelligence.

Even just meditating ten or twenty minutes a day can change your whole week.

That is the gist of meditation. To read more on it, see the meditation page on my blog. :)

I hope you will give it a try!

Namaste, sis
