Nothing tastes the same anymore. I feel detached from the TV shows and movies I used to love. I find no satisfaction in bodily pleasures. Each moment is a strange agony of restlessness. I find release in two things: sleep and meditation. 

A depressed person often turns to the oblivion of sleep as a removal of their pain. Sooner or later, though, we all have to wake up; and this deepens the depression. But a seeker may pass through depression by means of meditation. It creates the same kind of Let Go but consciously. To consciously move through suffering is to reclaim awareness from the painbody and become Present.

My guru said that the divine fitted the world with wellsprings called Agony which throw us back to the Divine. Pain and suffering has always been a wake up call from the identification with temporary Forms. 

This strange dullness I am finding to everything external is called vairagya. I thought I knew what vairagya was, and perhaps I did, but it is another thing entirely to go through it. 

When you finally see the outer world for the Emptiness that it is, the only thing left to do is turn inward. Every moment of pleasure, of happiness and contentment, has come from within. It’s time to know the light of awareness instead of allowing myself to be distracted by the temporary things that light shines upon.
