The Lazy Yogi

It is not spirituality that is important but rather what it puts you in touch with. There is a lot about living that we had once known intuitively as children and have now forgotten. And there is a lot about living that we couldn’t have grasped as children and now have the opportunity to become aware of. 

Spirituality is the word given to the process of reconciling these two things: the innocent Presence of youth and the Awareness of the non-dual ( the inherent lack of separation in all things). 

You do not need to travel to India or Nepal; you do not need to learn the names of vast pantheons of gods; you do not need to get the special initiation or technique. All of that stuff is fun and feel free to have at it. But the only peace you will find is the peace you bring with you. 

So what does spirituality put you in touch with? It puts you in touch with Reality as it truly is. The Reality of existence. 

Focus, devotion, meditation, love, all of these things were found to silence the mind and allow a ripening of awareness to occur. Words cannot describe it but a change takes place, the side effects of which manifest as mindblowing peace and a perception of unity. These things are not the goal; they are just reflections of what indescribably takes place. 

So if there is some beauty that attracts you to this path, let it be the beauty of this ultimate aim. If it could be said that we are here to do anything, it would be in allowing this very enlightenment to unfold.
